Who we are

You are here

Fondation Secours Humanitaire (Humanitarian Relief Foundation) is a non-profit organization based in Geneva, of public utility and independent of any political or religious affiliation. Since its founding, it has been committed to protecting and providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations around the world. It helps the most disadvantaged people, mainly in Palestine, while sustaining their fundamental rights and dignity.

Our mission

Our primary mission is to respond to urgent humanitarian needs in crisis zones, to alleviate human suffering, promote dignity, and provide assistance that enables people to rebuild their lives.

Although mainly active in Palestine, the foundation has no geographical limitations and, depending on the urgency of the situation, can carry out projects in any area or country requiring intervention.

Our objectives

- Emergency aid: Provide immediate help in times of crisis, including food, medical care, drinking water, shelter and clothing.

- Rehabilitation support: Help people rebuild their infrastructure and long-term living conditions, with an emphasis on education, health, and the creation of economic opportunities.

- Development aid: Support long-term development projects to help communities emerge from precariousness and become self-sufficient.

The foundation places the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the heart of its commitments and puts them into practice through actions aimed at:

  • Eradicate poverty in all its forms everywhere in the world.

  • Eradicate hunger and ensure food security

  • Ensure equal access to quality education for all.

  • Guarantee access to water and sanitation for all.

Alongside these actions, we also support orphans and widows through our sponsorship program, which is our most important activity.

Our values

Fondation Secours Humanitaire is founded on strong values that guide every one of our actions:

Solidarity and commitment: We do our utmost to fight injustice, poverty, and precariousness by developing relevant and sustainable projects that benefit everyone, especially children.

- Sharing and respect for human dignity: Our ambition is to create a positive dynamic of mutual aid between generous people in Switzerland and neighboring France, eager to support the most underprivileged in Palestine while respecting their human dignity.

- Ethics and financial transparency: The Foundation operates with total financial transparency towards its donors, making its annual accounts available to them and using the services of an independent certified accountant to validate its accounts. The Foundation is also subject to the supervision of the Swiss Federal Supervisory Authority for Foundations.

Respect and valorize the skills and know-how of beneficiary communities: Our projects are carried out in close collaboration with local players, based on a clear principle: to identify the skills of beneficiary populations and integrate them into their community's development process, thus encouraging the active participation of all in society.

- Neutrality and political and religious independence: We work with disadvantaged populations, observing political and religious neutrality while respecting their political, religious, and racial diversity. We take great care to maintain our independence from public, political, and religious authorities in order to preserve our autonomy.
